Hezbollah’s chief officer for fundraising activities for the Lebanese militant group who was stationed in Syria has been neutralized, per the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). According to the statement made by Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF representative, this individual was in charge of the activities of Unit 4400 of Hezbollah, which was responsible for carrying out financial transactions connecting the militants with funds in oil sold in Iran.
Hagari stated that the commander was neutralized in a kinetic operation of elimination, which took place the same day but did not provide the commander’s name. This commander’s Unit 4400 is in charge of the funneling of oil supply from Iran into Syria, the profits of which are subsequently used to fund Hezbollah’s activities in Lebanon. Hagari aknowledged these operations which he said has income coming from Iranian oil that is essential to the existence of the organization.
The commander was also reported to have replaced Mohammed Jafar Ksir aka Sheikh Salah, who was eliminated by Israeli military actions in the capitol of Lebanon earlier this month. Ksir had controlled the main sources of revenue for Hezbollah until he was taken out in a targeted assassination in the first week of October.
At the same time, Syrian officials confirmed that two people were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike in Damascus on Sunday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the Israeli airstrike was directed against a foreigner who was driving near the memorial of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was recently killed by Israeli forces in Gaza.

In its attempt to cripple the financial system of Hezbollah, Israel has worsened the situation. The IDF recently struck 15 branches of Hezbollah’s financial institution, Al-Qard al-Hasan, which operates as a bank in Lebanon despite being registered as a charity. This entity has also been blacklisted by the US and Saudi Arabia for allegedly serving as a financier to hegzbollah.
