In the bilateral meeting at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin proved the strength of the relationship between their nations. It was Modi’s second visit to Russia in just a matter of three months.

He termed the “specially privileged” relations with New Delhi as “dynamically developing.” In the lighter moment that brightened up the evening, he jested that their connection was so good that he thought PM Modi would understand his comments without any translation. Modi also laughed at this. Putin has described him as his “good friend” at various times in the past.

On this, PM Modi responded that his recent visits to Russia very well depict the deep friendship and close coordination between the two nations. He further said that their annual summit in Moscow in July had once again solidified their cooperation in all these sectors.

India considers Russia one of the most consistent allies, which has played a vital role in the country’s economic development and security. This meeting comes three months after Modi’s informal discussion with Putin in Moscow that attracted much attention from many followers of international developments, even those in the United States and Ukraine, amid raging conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Referring to the July meeting Putin thanked Modi for inviting him to Kazan and said that their conversations were fruitful and their communication still continues.

“We maintain constant communication regarding the ongoing conflict and believe in resolving issues through dialogue,” he said reiterating India’s take on Russia-Ukraine.

His meeting took place just a day after his arrival in Kazan for the 16th BRICS Summit where he confirmed again the commitment of India to stand in favor of world peace and stability. “Priority is for humanity, and India is ready to provide all possible help in the future,” PM Modi summed up.
