Mamata Banerjee expressed her gratitude to the people of West Bengal for their support as her party led in 29 seats. She urged PM Modi to step down, criticizing him for not securing a majority as he had promised. Banerjee said, “The Prime Minister has lost credibility and should resign immediately. He claimed they would cross 400 seats, but they failed despite spending a lot of money and causing many violation. The arrogance of Modi ji and Amit Shah has been defeated; India has won.”
Banerjee also emphasized her commitment to ensuring that Modi will remove from power and that the INDIA alliance takes over. She claimed that the people of India have weakened PM Modi’s morale after he had previously damaged many political parties.
According to the Election Commission, the TMC has been declared the winner in two seats, with notable leads in 27 others. The BJP is currently leading in 12 seats, while Congress is ahead in the Maldaha Dakshin constituency. Compared to their 22 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, the TMC has significantly strengthened its position over the past five years.
Regional leaders are now playing a crucial role in government formation. Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) hold significant influence. The Samajwadi Party has emerged as a strong force in Uttar Pradesh with leads in 34 seats. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) is leading in nine seats, compared to 18 before the party split. The NCP (Sharad Pawar) is ahead in seven seats this time, up from five in 2019. In Tamil Nadu, the M K Stalin-led DMK is maintaining its dominance with leads in 21 seats, slightly down from 23 in 2019.
